How to Create an Awesome Lead Magnet Using Free Tools
Being a wedding photographer, my summers are hectic, busy and generally a whirlwind. Of course, "busy" implies that I'm booked and in-demand so it's almost a badge of honor but really just results in being stressed out and potentially letting things slip through the cracks.
Over the past year with Dawn we've been implementing ways to automate certain communications and workflows so there is less on my plate. What has resulted is that even though this summer is even busier than previous ones I'm sailing through it a lot less stressed and with a lot more time to have a social life. Dawn's knowledge of automation and marketing, in general, has been a godsend. She's the secret weapon in my business!
Your lead magnet is the entry point to your sales funnel and automation… you literally can’t run automation until someone has opted in, so it’s super important to have an effective giveaway to entice your website visitors to subscribe.
It’s not enough just to know the elements of an effective lead magnet… it’s time to take that knowledge and actually create a freebie our audience will love.
Since “money loves speed,” let’s create an amazing lead magnet quickly…
For the purposes of this post and tutorial, and to avoid getting hung up deciding between the many lead magnet ideas you might have let’s agree to create something simple yet super helpful – a checklist.
Since I want this to be something I can actually use in my business, I’m going to create a checklist of my favorite marketing tools.
Yours can be whatever you like – ways to alleviate back pain, reasons to drink filtered water, ways to increase your social media reach, tools to make professional looking videos – whatever. Just pick a horse and ride it.
Write Your Headline
There are all kinds of great ways to write a headline but since we’re going for speed in this particular tutorial, just use my headline generator. Watch the quick video below for a quick video walkthrough…
Create Your Lead Magnet
Now it’s time to create the lead magnet itself. In the interest of getting this done quickly, I’m using a lead magnet software (PDF creator) called Beacon (which is free).
If you’re doing a checklist this can literally take you 15 to 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can compile some of your best blog posts using their WordPress plugin and have your book done in 2 minutes… totally up to you!
Your Next Step…
Stay tuned for the next video blog posts in this series, where I’ll show you how to create a great looking cover shot for your new lead magnet. This will help you increase the perceived value of your lead magnet and increase conversions!
