Ep 8: The Art of Not Giving a F*ck with Dan Klein (EXPLICIT)

Being a wedding photographer, my summers are hectic, busy and generally a whirlwind. Of course, "busy" implies that I'm booked and in-demand so it's almost a badge of honor but really just results in being stressed out and potentially letting things slip through the cracks.

Over the past year with Dawn we've been implementing ways to automate certain communications and workflows so there is less on my plate. What has resulted is that even though this summer is even busier than previous ones I'm sailing through it a lot less stressed and with a lot more time to have a social life. Dawn's knowledge of automation and marketing, in general, has been a godsend. She's the secret weapon in my business!

Today, I’m joined by one of my favorite marketing friends. Running his business from his cell phone and a studio at home, Dan Klein spends a lot of the year traveling with his family and is able to do all of this with all of the systems and processes put in place.

So many times people don’t take action because they’re so concerned with what other people care about, and Dan has embraced the motto of not giving a f*ck.

Be Attention Grabbing

When you stand out, people want to meet you. There are so many things that people can do to get attention. Attention is attention and attention will get you opportunities to get more money.

Sometimes people focus so much on living in perfection and see other people doing it one way, they think they have to do it that way.

Stop Giving a F*ck About How Things Look

Do you. It’s going to be a breath of fresh air, because they can see you are authentic.

The If Mentality

There are two mentalities – you’re either saying “if this works” or “no matter what, it’s going to work.” It’s up to me to make something work.

Entrepreneurialism is a mental game. The minute you hesitate, the competitors are taking you out and you start going backward.

What You Focus On Comes to Pass

If you’re focusing on your fears and what ifs, that is what will happen. If you focus on solving a problem, your brain will continue to work on the problem subconsciously.

Making Money is a Habit

You need to be looking for money all of the time. If you stop looking, you absolutely will stop making money. This is why automation is so important. You don’t want to focus on sending out emails but focus on what actually makes you money.

Figure Out Your Worth Per Hour

Look at the last year and figure out how many hours you worked and how much you made. After, look at all of the tasks that you are doing yourself. Oftentimes, we end up stepping over dollars to pick up quarters. Anything that is below your hourly rate, you need to get rid of it.

That’s why automation tools like Ontraport is important. Put systems in place that will buy your time back. Computers have no emotions. So when you’re having a bad day, things are still happening.

Last Thoughts

You want to create assets – digital real estate. You create a course or training and then you sell seats to the same program.
