Hey, welcome back to the 6 Figure Sales Funnels podcast. Today, we’re gonna cut through the noise and get real about something that’s holding way too many entrepreneurs back: your tech overwhelm.
Look, I know a lot of you—myself included—started this journey because we wanted freedom, not just a bigger paycheck. We wanted to build a business that works for us, not a job that traps us. But here we are, working 100-hour weeks, missing out on vacations, and pretending we’re free when in reality, we’re shackled to our laptops.
That’s why today’s episode is about what’s possible when you stop letting tech be the thing that trips you up. I’m talking about automating your business in a way that frees up your time, gets you out of those feast-or-famine cycles, and gives you back control of your life.
I’ve got entrepreneur friends, and I’ll be the first to admit I’ve done this too—traded the 9-to-5 for a 24/7 hustle. We joke about it, but it’s not funny when you’ve gone years without a proper vacation. And I’m not talking about the kind where you sneak in a little work at the beach—I’m talking about a real, no-laptop, no-phone, completely-off-the-grid vacation.
The Feast and Famine Cycle
And the cycle? You know the one I’m talking about. We grind through marketing, pull in a bunch of clients, get overwhelmed with work, stop marketing because we can’t handle any more, and then, boom—no clients again. It’s like we’re always stuck on this hamster wheel, chasing our own tails.
Let me break it down further—this cycle feels endless because it is endless when we rely on manual systems. The minute you take your foot off the pedal to breathe or enjoy life, your lead flow slows down, and that panic creeps in. You know, that oh shit moment when you realize you’re going to be staring at an empty calendar in a couple of months? That’s the kind of stress automation can erase.
Parents, especially moms, I see you. I feel the guilt too. You work your ass off building your business, and the guilt of not spending enough time with your kids eats at you. So, you make the trade—you work late into the night, once the kids are asleep, but at what cost? Burnout. Exhaustion. And you’re still doing tasks that could easily be automated.
You know what really sucks? Feeling like you’re killing yourself for your business and feeling like you’re falling short as a parent. That double punch is brutal, and yet we keep taking it because we’re told, “That’s the entrepreneur life.”
But it doesn’t have to be.
So what’s possible? Let me break it down.
Marketing? Automated.
Lead generation? Done.
Appointment bookings? Scheduled automatically.
Client onboarding? Seamless.
Hell, even parts of client fulfillment can be automated depending on your business. You could literally reclaim hours of your week—hours you’re wasting right now on manual tasks that are draining the life out of you.
These aren’t complicated things. It’s not rocket science. You don’t need a PhD in engineering to make this happen. You need the right systems, the right mindset, and the willingness to slow down for a minute and figure this stuff out.
Let’s get real for a second. How many of you are sitting there listening to this, thinking, “Yeah, yeah, Dawn, I know automation would save me time, but I just don’t have the headspace for it right now.”
Sound familiar?
That mindset is the exact thing keeping you stuck. You’re burning out because you don’t have time, but you won’t make time to fix it. It’s a vicious cycle. But here’s the thing: if you don’t take a step back and invest time into automating your business now, you’re never going to get off that hamster wheel. Ever.
Most of us don’t take the time to even explore this. We’re too damn busy juggling the fires, putting out one crisis after another. We’re so caught up in the chaos that we don’t step back to see how automating just a few things could change everything.
I’m guilty of it too. We all are. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the grind and convince ourselves that the only way out is to work harder. But that’s a lie. The real way out is to work smarter.
And let’s be real— the phrase “I’m just not techy enough” needs to die. That’s not a badge of honor; it’s a crutch. A mantra that you’ve been telling yourself for so long it’s now an excuse. Look, even the techies out there hit tech hell sometimes—we’ve just learned to work through it, to embrace it, and figure it out.
And by the way, being “tech challenged” isn’t special. We all struggle with tech at some point. But you know what? We all struggle with taxes, too, and guess what—you don’t just ignore those. You figure it out. Same goes for automation. You figure it out, or you find someone who can.
So here’s the thing: You don’t need to be a tech genius to get your business running like a well-oiled machine. You just need to start. You need to stop telling yourself that you’re “tech challenged” and start figuring out how to implement automation, whether you do it yourself or hire a damn good integrator who can make it happen for you.
Let’s Talk Possibilities
Imagine waking up tomorrow, and while you were sleeping, your business was working. Leads were being nurtured, appointments were getting booked, clients were being onboarded, and sales were coming through—all without you lifting a finger. Think about what that would mean for your life.
Let me ask you this—how different would your day be if you didn’t have to manually follow up with leads? If your calendar was automatically filling up with high-quality appointments while you’re focused on other things? Or, hell, if you finally got some time to just… be.
No more waking up in a cold sweat at 2 a.m. wondering if you forgot to follow up with a lead. No more juggling a million things in your head. No more scrambling to keep the wheels turning while you’re just trying to keep your sanity intact.
Let’s go deeper.
What if your lead generation was happening automatically? Every day, your system sends out the perfect message, at the perfect time, to the perfect lead. And what if, instead of spending hours every week trying to figure out your next social media post, your content was scheduled, posted, and optimized for you?
And here’s where the real magic happens: what if your clients felt like they were getting a world-class experience from the moment they clicked “book a call” to the final delivery of your service, all because you had a system in place that handled it seamlessly?
That’s the kind of stuff that automation can do for you. It’s not just about saving time—it’s about creating consistency and scale. It’s about giving every client a flawless experience, no matter how busy you are. It’s about freeing up your brain to focus on what really matters—the growth, the big ideas, the vision. Because that’s what you’re good at, right? You’re not here to spend your time sorting through emails or managing every little detail.
You didn’t sign up for that. You signed up to be a visionary, a leader, the person driving the ship. But right now? You’re stuck scrubbing the deck. And that needs to change.
Next Steps
You’ve heard this, you’re feeling inspired, but maybe you’re sitting there thinking, “I don’t even know where to start.” Well, here’s your answer: Download my Marketing Automation Checklist at marrsmarketing.com/checklist. The real freedom you want isn’t gonna come from working harder—it’s gonna come from working smarter. And this checklist is your first step toward that freedom.
So, what are you waiting for? Automation isn’t some pipe dream—it’s here, it’s now, and it’s what’s gonna get you off the hamster wheel and back into the driver’s seat. Stop letting tech overwhelm you, stop being stuck in the grind, and start building a business that works for you.
You’ve got one life, and if you’re still letting someone else’s system dictate your time, your peace, and your earnings, it’s time to wake up.
I can’t wait to see what’s possible for you when you finally make the leap.
